Dear Hannah,

Gosh, you are good! Studying with both a cold and while getting a free day from school!

Write to your dad. Tell him it as it is and add that, although you may not be able to make him understand, to trust your judgement about your condition and how it affects you.

I am making memory books for my children. Through the years I have kept bits and pieces that they have made, given or whatever. My daughter Avril and I have stubborn, pig headed tendencies which means that, although we are close, we tend to clash a bit. When looking at the bits I have for her memory book I came across a series of notes and letters. The last one was written 8 years ago and was given me to read on a plane when I was going on holiday. (She knew that the content wouldn't please me and was giving me 2 weeks to accept what she was intending to do.) Most of the notes/letters are explanations of how she felt about something. She would push them under my bedroom door and I would find them when I came to bed and she would be long asleep. I often felt guilty when I would see how we had been at cross purposes and what her understanding of a situation was. We always made up and those notes have been cherished by me ever since.

Try it, it could work!

Love Eleanor x

Hannah, hope you are ok today, and that you are feeling better!

Eleanor, what a lovely idea!!! I love it, I still have some cards the boys made me when they were little!!! I get them out when things are tough, my eldest is 17, and it never fails to make me smile!!

Hannah, can`t really add to what has already been written, but hope your cold disappears soon. You are very good to be doing so much revision while not feling well.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Dear hannah

I'm sorry you're feeling so unwell, and your dad doesn't want to know. Sometimes those closest to us want to put their head in the sand and pretend that everything is all right, because they can't bear their loved ones being ill, and that if they don't talk about it, everything will be all right.

i'm glad you can talk to your mum, and on the forum we are always ready to listen and help if possible.

You must be quite a strong person, to do your revision, and to try and get to school.

I hope you can talk to your dad, and make him understand what you are going through.

Lyn

Hi Hannah
Just to say that doctors only know the basics .Of R.A
And i offton stay with my sister in law a G.P to help with something ( dog has pups or housesitting )
I have suprised her a few times on how weak my hands are or how slow i walk .And being tried .

Flareing up is like having flu is i think a good way of explaining it .

Our Son has an extra 15 mins on exams which is helpfull to him .( deslexic ) He went too someone in the uni and said there might be a promlem and it went from there .Maybe if you went too the headteacher and asked may be you could have extra time on exams .
i am not suprised your Dad does not know about the downside of R.A AS My sister in law does not and my own doctor is supid has too read my mtx book and i have friends who are g.PS and they don,t know .They only have basic training .If you look all right you will be all right sydrom
Hope you get along all right

Hi Hanna,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having problems with your Dad and agree with what has been said already. However, I would like to add and point out that although your Dad is a GP, he cannot force you to have a blood test, to do so would be illegal.

Take Care, and good luck with your revision,

Love,

Barbara

Hi Hannah
I don't know if you are doing the same biology exam as my daughter but apparently there was a question about mtx on there today. She felt quite chuffed because it was a drug she had heard off :)
How are things with you and your dad? I have been thinking of you. Good luck with any other exams
